About the event
In this time of COVID-19, we are all experiencing elevated levels of stress. Mental wellness is extremely important for everyone, but for teens who may be coping with a disrupted school schedule, isolation from their friends, and missing out on key social milestones like prom or graduation, developing healthy coping skills is critical.
In this brief video, Dr. Shainna Ali, a clinician, mental health educator and advocate, and author of The Self-Love Workbook and The Self-Love Workbook for Teens, offers your teenager strategies to build their self-care toolkit. Through guided exercises and reflection, your teen will learn:
- About stress and coping
- Why self-care is important
- How to identify self-care activities that work for their unique circumstances.
The techniques described in this video may be useful at any time of stress, but this video specifically references the COVID-19 pandemic and uses examples that relate to the present climate. This lesson is for educational purposes only and is not meant to be, nor should be construed as, a substitute for therapy or other medical consultation.
